RFID stock opname: count all your stock in minutes, not days
Walk the aisles with a UHF RFID handheld and every tagged item in range is counted, even inside boxes and on high shelves. No more closing the warehouse for two days to count by hand.
What is RFID stock opname?
RFID stock opname is a stock count done with UHF RFID instead of clipboards or barcode scanners. Every item, carton or pallet carries a small RFID tag. A handheld reader picks up the IDs of all tags within several meters by radio, hundreds per second, without needing to see them, and compares what it read with the stock in your system.
The result: a count that used to keep a team busy for days is done in hours or minutes, differences show up as soon as the walk is finished, and you can count every week instead of once or twice a year.
Manual stock count vs RFID stock opname
| Manual or barcode count | RFID stock opname | |
|---|---|---|
| How items are read | One label at a time, must be in sight | Hundreds of tags per second, through boxes |
| Time for a full count | Days, often with operations paused | Hours or minutes, operations keep running |
| People needed | A team counting and rechecking | One or two operators with handhelds |
| Typing and recount errors | Common | Rare: the reader records every ID |
| How often you can count | Once or twice a year | Every week, or one zone every day |
| Finding a missing item | Search shelf by shelf | Locate mode leads you to the tag |
How an RFID stock opname works
- 01
Tag your stock
Attach UHF RFID tags to items, cartons or pallets and link each tag to its product in your system. New stock is tagged as it arrives.
- 02
Walk and scan
An operator walks each zone with a handheld reader. Every tag in range is read in seconds, including items on high racks or inside closed boxes.
- 03
Review the differences
The app compares what was read with system stock and lists items that are missing, extra or in the wrong zone while the operator is still on site.
- 04
Sync and adjust
Approved results go to your ERP or WMS, such as Odoo, or to a file, so the stock on paper matches the stock on the shelf.

RFID stock opname questions
How much faster is an RFID stock opname than a manual count?
A handheld reads hundreds of tags per second, so the walk itself goes quickly. Counts that take a team several days by hand typically take hours, and a single zone takes minutes. The exact time depends on the number of items, the layout and where the tags sit.
Do we have to tag every single item?
Not always. Many teams tag at the level they count: cartons or pallets in a warehouse, single pieces for high value items. A short assessment decides what to tag first.
Can RFID read through boxes and on high shelves?
Yes. UHF RFID works by radio and does not need line of sight, so tags inside closed cartons or on top racks are read from the aisle. Metal and liquids need suitable tags, which the site survey covers.
Does RFID stock opname work with our ERP?
Yes. Count results can be synced to Odoo, and to SAP, Accurate Online, other ERP or WMS systems and internal tools through an API or file exchange, scoped per project.
How long does it take to get started?
Most teams go live in 3 to 5 weeks: assessment, tagging, setup and training. Many run RFID next to their old count for a few weeks before switching over.
